Friday Five: Alfred Lord Tennyson

It was Alfred Lord Tennyson’s birthday this week, so I thought I would share some quotes and part of a poem from one of my favorite poets. Enjoy!

1.

2.

“I hold it true, whatever befall; I feel it, when I sorrow most; ‘Tis better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all.”

3.

4.

“Dreams are true while they last, and do we not live in dreams?”

5.
Bonus: Part 1 of “The Lady of Shallot”

I’m not a poetry fan, but I share Tennyson’s birthday, which I think is super cool, so I’m trying is poetry in an attempt to culture myself. I’m currently drowning in Idylls of the King.

    1. Ooo good luck!! I’m pretty hit or miss with poetry, but The Lady of Shallot is one of my favorites, so that’s why I love Tennyson. Hope you make it through Idylls of the King, I haven’t read that one yet. Have you tried listening to it while reading? That sometimes helps me with old poetry.
